Panaji: A Tale of Two Temples

The state capital of Goa, Panaji, or Panjim, sits proudly on the banks of the Mandovi River, watching over the floating casinos which light up the waterways by night. High on a hill in the centre of the city, you can find Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church, originally built in 1541. You can walk up the beautiful (and plentiful) steps to the front of the church, or if you’re in a car, you can get dropped off in the car park round the side.

Dudhsagar Falls – Tamil Films at the Sea of Milk

While having a pre-trip peruse of my guidebook, I’d taken an interest in Dudhsagar Falls, so when the opportunity to go there on a private trip organised through the local travel company came up, I jumped at the chance. After a couple of hours in the car, we arrived at the village of Colem, where we were harangued into buying some bananas because it turned out there were monkeys to feed – always a nice surprise.

Palolem: A Day in South Goa

Stepping through the beach bar from the dusty courtyard, I caught my first glimpse of the bay at Palolem and I fell in love. A sweeping bay of dappled sand and calm sea, fringed with palm trees and beach shacks, it wasn’t surprising I was so enamoured.

Interesting fact: my family have a history of love in Palolem – it’s where my brother and his fiancée got engaged!
